I repeat, NO PATTERN.
[via text]
me: Lydia made this dress out of bed sheets with no pattern. TOTALLY LIBBY ANGRY.
Libby: UGH WHAT. Yo, she actually needs to be assassinated.

I'm not going to write you a sad song
Libby: ughhh why am I excited for Sara Bareilles's new cd? I on the sneak love her.
me: It's all good, I bought the Dia Frampton album after hearing the "Don't Kick the Chair" song
and then I found out she was a contestant from The Voice.
Libby: I'm also watching American Idol on demand right now so....I cannot say anything.

chickpeas, police escorts, and Libby Burns.
smashed chickpea and avocado salad sandwiches,
serves four to six people depending on everyone's appetite
2 cans of chickpeas, rinsed and drained
2 large ripe avocados
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
3 Tbsp scallions, chopped
juice from one lemon
s&p
bread (I used some kind of sourdough rustic Italian loaf)
clover sprouts
- In a medium bowl, using a potato masher/fork/pestle/your fist, smash together chickpeas and avocado. Add everything else, season to taste. If mixture is too thick, loosen with more lemon juice or olive oil.
- Pack everything into your favorite picnic basket tote and cart it to campus. Get a ride from the campus police cadets. Yo, so baller that I get police escorts to my picnics. I mean, my goodness.
- Enjoy sandwiches with raspberry tart and grapefruit soda (with white wine and clementines!) with your amazingly talented friends, one who just moved to Mizzou for her masters in editorial design, the other who just designed his senior book on joy (the whole purpose of the picnic since my joy is food).
- Have so much leftover that you decide to email your French lit professor (who is but a building away) to see if he wants a sandwich, because that's not weird. It's alright, he likes food.
- Lug all the leftovers to class where everyone already judges you for your indoor picnics. It is what it is.

Wake up! It's time to go to sleep!
Lex’s 24th birthday/Clyde’s Shame Spiral: Malbec, mushroom soup, et moules frites at Mon Ami Gabi, Barbie balloons, planning a lazy river lane from Reston to DC (HOV? I think you mean HYB/Hold Yo Breath!), French braids and a stranger’s love life story in the bathroom, turning things up just one notch at a time, Claire/Blair and Whitney Blueberry, faux Toby Maguire and his nemesis James Franco, Libby’s lady bones, forgetting to close out my eleven dollar bar tab and the ensuing drive of shame back to Reston the next morning, and Alexie’s red lipstick.
SHUT IT DOWN.

lady bones
The wonderful thing about having creative friends and being handy with a camera is that they occasionally ask you to photograph their handiwork. Libby, of Hello It's Libby, recently produced an adorable zine (lady bones, soon to be available here) and asked me to snap a few product shots. Uh, of course! We photographed them in Cherry Hill Park (thanks to Russian Rachel for the location suggestion) on a very cold winter afternoon and two of us were wearing ugly Christmas sweaters. The brown/cream paper and handstitched binding looked so good against tree stumps and sand patterns. Keep an eye out for it, folks.

What hipster tendencies?
Just realized that tomorrow I will be:
Oh look, it's Russian Rachel's sweater!
- attending an ugly Christmas sweater party and baking gingerbread houses
- photographing Libby's zine on a picnic table in the winter sunlight
- buying a new Moleskine planner at Barnes & Nobles
Oh look, it's Russian Rachel's sweater!

Christmas eve afternoon
Libby: so I want to illustrate your breakfast recipe with oatmeal and the egg and I will send it to you. And if you like it, we'll do like 10 more together. Food zine.
me: uh, done.
me: I'm eating this apple pastry blossom, Rachel is icing a cake, and we're talking about food zines. This is pretty much an awesome afternoon.
Libby: what if we were all TOGETHER? Actually the world might explode into zine pages and baked goods.

Shoot, that's how we roll.
Libby: I told Chris I ran into you during lunch yesterday, and I was like, "we talked to a professor and ate cookies and took photos and said we'd help each other make websites!" and he just goes "...that is magical."

I HATE YOU is how Libby expresses her love.

Chris. If you give me a kitchen and some ingredients, I will cook you ALL THE FOOD.
Libby: My friend Chris just gchatted me asking if you could cook for him full time. I asked if he was on your blog and he said yes. "Actually have it open in two windows so I can continue listening to Bright Lights."
me: Oh snap, he took it to a higher level.
Libby: He's a fan.

That's right, people! BE AN ARTIST.
[on studying for her GREs and and her communications major v. art minor]
me: I don't even know what communication majors do half the time.
Libby: It basically means you want to be an art major most of the time.

Libby: Ok, I am seriously going to pick out a concert and we are going to go together. And afterward get pie. You do not have a choice in this matter.
me: Ok, cool. I like pie. And music. And Libby. And fun photos that I get to post on the internets in a "Haha, I went here and ate this and you didn't" kind of way.
Libby: All. Those. Things.
