Ah, sweet irony.

In a curious twist of fate, this arrived today.

I saw these breathtaking photos via the Cloud Society.
"Photos to take" list is moot now.

Spread the Good Word's A Bloody Summer Mix '09!
Guess I didn't need to compile that "Four Hour Car Drive!" mix, womp womp.

Brunch and Beach via Cupcakes and Cashmere.
I suppose I didn't have to plan that meal, haha. That frittata looks damn yummy.

I'm fine, really. A little bitter but tomorrow is a new day.
Eff yoo, Bates. "Thinly-veiled emoness", my ass. I call it like it is.

Things that Dads say

Dad: Do you have any water?
Me: Here.
Dad: (takes sip) Blech! You're going to die a slow death from rosemary sap poisoning.

Muesli Mornings

With your ear to a seashell you can hear the waves in underwater caves as if you actually were inside a saltwater room.
Owl City

I love breakfast. There is something so peaceful and routine about the morning meal. I go through breakfast trends where I'll have the same breakfast for weeks at a time. Honey Bunches of Oats. One egg quick omelettes¹. Instant Quaker Oats Strawberries and Cream. Whole grain toast with peanut butter and banana. Pair all these with a good cup of coffee (no sugar, splash o'milk, and a sprinkle of freshly-grated cinnamon). Bliss.

My current love is muesli. Have you ever had it? It's just so damn fast to prepare; I adore it. Muesli is ridiculously healthy for you too- low in sugar, high in fiber, dairy and protein (depending on the proportion of nuts).

Muesli
Ingredients:
unrolled oats
dried fruits (I prefer chopped apricots and dates)
milk
cinnamon
kosher salt
apple, shredded or finely chopped
honey
plain yogurt
fresh fruit (Mango! Blueberries!)
walnuts or sunflower seeds

1. In a bowl, mix oats, apple and dried fruits. Add milk until oats are covered. Add a pinch of salt and cinnamon. Set in fridge overnight.
2. Add fresh fruit and honey/plain yogurt to taste.
3. Start your day with a full belly of WIN. Lord it over your friends that you eat healthy breakfasts while they crash at ten AM from their glazed doughnut² and orange mocha frappuccino.

For more (and better) breakfast photos, go to Simply Breakfast. Never fails to make me hungry.

¹ Hah, my hair was oh-so shiny for those two weeks.
² *Ahem, don't get me wrong; I'm not a health snob. I enjoy a good glazed doughnut as much as the next gal, just not at five in the morning.
