You could say she's excited about Record Store Day.

Steph: I'm looking at Hill & Dale Records' list of special RSD releases and I'm kind of so excited I want to throw up a little. I'm only in the C's too. (thirty seconds later) omg Everly Brothers.

I filed my taxes with 90 minutes to spare. Yeeeeee!
God bless Turbo Tax e-filing.

easy thief

Cleaning all the things tonight. I just organized and sleeved about a hundred business cards I've accumulated over the past year. I'll probably be all kinds of slap happy tomorrow but hey, until then, this song and some 2 AM sock folding. Upside, I'll get to see this blood moon eclipse I've heard about all day. Aside from the Twilight connotations, I'm pumped.

update: “Tonight will be the first of four eclipses this year and, as NASA reports, is in prime viewing location for people in North and South America. Unfortunately, due to heavy cloud cover expected over D.C. and the East Coast, it will be especially difficult to see it. Tonight's eclipse occurs when the Moon's "orbital trajectory takes it through the southern half of Earth's umbral shadow." The entire eclipse will last approximately 78 minutes, starting at about 1:58 a.m., with the eclipse reaching totality at around 3:07 a.m. Even though you (probably) won't be able to see it tonight, NASA will be live-streaming the eclipse here.”

Way to harsh my mellow, DCist.

skateboarding, space, and scrambled eggs

“In summary, skateboarding is a destructive-absortive-reproductive process of both body and architecture. Consequently its mode of spatial composition is very different to that of architecture, replacing architecture's 'classist' mode with once of 'romanticism.'
You're dealing with something that's beyond the normal balance of things...redefining the order of things.
In place of the organized cosmos of architecture-classicism's cohesion, internalized hierarchies, imitation and balance, there are the waves, vibrations and oscillations of skateboarding's ludic procedures, suggesting conflict and contradiction, chaos and confusion, internalization of the external world, emotion and spontaneity.”

Did you catch that? Conflict and contradiction, chaos and confusion. Be still my heart.

mornings

guess I'm dying early, y'all.

Justin: I just took a nap.
me: I napped earlier, it was awesome.
Justin: I saw an article that said that people who nap tend not to live as long as those who don't. #oops
me: Why?
Justin: I dunno. I didn't care to indulge in such blasphemy.

sunday morning

sounds like: The Arctic Monkeys vs. The Killers' Scumbody Told Me, knowing better & learning faster with Thao Nguyen, and searching for Freedom with Anthony Hamilton & Elayna Boynton.

tastes like: French-press coffee before the farmers market. I'm going to photograph tartines later, so I'll be eating tartines later. I have a bit of coconut yogurt that's today or never.

feels like: Where to start? It saddens me that a significant part of my life has been reduced to a Gotye song. I don't particularly understand it and it bothers me that it bothers me. I don't act or speak lightly and even saying all of this required a certain level of deliberation. In all honesty, I miss the friendship. He listened, he made me laugh, and I loved him for it. C'est la vie, however, I can't let the what happeneds and the what ifs eat my brain. I probably should have said this awhile ago, but I'm stubborn.  The long and short of it is that it happened. I have no regrets. I wish him only the very best and that he finds what he was looking for. I shall think of him, but I shall no longer speak of it.

smells like: Spring. Finally

This all you get now, baby. This all you get.

Work is good. My passport arrived. I have new tires. My hair's getting shorter tomorrow. I have a new phone. I went to Brooklyn & Jersey this past weekend to talk art and assemble a soft top roof for a jeep. Got stuck in an elevator, that was fun. Steph and I will shoot *cough-eat-cough* tartines. I cleaned out my car. My plants are watered. This morning I made pancakes for breakfast. I slept early, woke up early.

It feels good to get shit done.

I have things to say, and I will, but first take a moment and enjoy the pink magnolia.
Forget Punxsutawney Phil, THIS is how I know spring has sprung.
