Rolling in the Pandora deep

Mark: There are stations on Pandora?! Like, not Mark Levy Adele stations?

Sandy Shmandy

Hmm, I hear there was a hurricane? We didn't get hit much here, thank goodness. The only thing that happened was a sporadic (be honest, who quoted Clueless right there?) flickering of the lights. New York and New Jersey seems to have taken the brunt of it - much love and thoughts to them with their flooded streets and Day After Tomorrow events. I've spent the past two days in my pajamas - eating, working from home, and airing my winter scarves. While I'm dealing with a mild case of cabin fever, I'd much rather be at home than powerless, internetless, or even knee deep in cold water.

Yesterday I made hurricane French toast with my abundance of milk, eggs, and bread. Today I am wrapping up the final content, copy & photos, for Society Fair's eShop which will hopefully go live tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, it will be Halloween and I will be sitting in my usual corner dressed as a panda. I'm fairly excited about this. A little (understatement) hurricane isn't going to stop me from my Halloween fun. Shoot.

Stay dry, kiddos. Drive safe. Tip your waiters.

[Mayer Hawthorne station on Pandora in Society Fair, The Walk comes on]
me: Guys! This is one of my favorite songs! I like him so much, I saw him twice in one week!
Jason L.: You mean from the bushes?

AVT's circle formation

I've yet to post photos of that day in the park, the day we ate pie and became the von Trapp children.

Side note, I somehow (there's no somehow, I know how, but I had no reason why) changed my default input font to Garamond. So, as I type this, I feel all poetic and shit because there are now serifs when I blog post. Not once I publish, just while I type.

Ouija? Oui-NO!

That day I went to help with the Rossmeissl yard sale and discovered that they were selling a Ouija board.

a. oh hell no.
b. I don't know, vina. Should you take this Ouija board and put it in PX or TNT for Halloween?
c. Nah, son. Horror movie waiting to happen.

me: I'm at a yard sale, do we want a Ouija board for Halloween?
Meshe: Don't even touch that thing!!! Spirits follow you home, haven't you watched the movies?!!!!!!!

I UNDERSTAND THAT'S HOW YOU GET HAUNTED.

Today I edited and uploaded the photos I took last week for Society Fair's eShop (coming soon!).
This is also known as “oh snap.”

[on tonight's episode of American Horror Story]
me: Jessica Lange made coq au vin for Joseph Fiennes. It would have been sexier if she weren't 60 or so.
Justin: My mom gets AARP magazine now, and they say that sex 60+ can be the best sex of your life.

With a photo like this, we basically NEED to make a folk album now

Oh, Facebooks.

The Black Jack White, sparkly shoes, and pickled shrimp

Spirit Animal at DC9 | October 10, 2012
I hadn't been to DC9 since they reopened. There's a rooftop bar now. Cool.
Ordered fried green tomatoes with Tabasco aioli, pickled shrimp, and the Southby burger - which had avocado, pepper jack, and jalapenos.
DC9 steppin' up their food game. I like it.
Oh and, as usual, the boys of Spirit Animal were delightful.
Cal went on a mini-rant about people who douse their French fries in ketchup.
I retaliated with how much I abhor Ranch dressing.
Poor Aida and Ronen endured in bemused silence.

He's not a fan.

me: [looking for files in office]
Chef Dan: [walks in, sits down at computer] You know you're a douche?
me:...yes, I apologize for that, chef.
Chef Dan: Not YOU! Apple! They put their fucking logo on everything! And their screen saver even says how many phones they've sold recently! What the fuck! Who do you fucking think you are, McDonalds!?

scarves and soup

It's been getting colder and colder. I dislike it. On the upside, I get to wear more scarves and eat soup.

Kimberly: I'm in Old Town right now, but I need to get pretty.
me: oh, I was just going to roll up in jeans.
Kimberly: I haven't brushed my teeth. It's a different level.

...Pat likes food.

[on working at Society Fair and being surrounded by pastries all day]
Pat Youngs: Omgggg, I would have to buy all new pants.
me: Shoot. That's why I wear dresses.
Pat Youngs: Hahahaha not such a simple solution for me. :( Soooo why's Pat wearing a dress? ....Pat likes food.

But every time we walked by after that, the lifeguard looked down from her tower, right over at Squints, and smiled.

This photo has been on my desktop for the past week, and I smile whenever I see it.
Easily my favorite part of the entire movie.
