“....that the mounds of ices, and the bowls of mint-julep and sherry
cobbler they make in these latitudes, are refreshments never to be
thought of afterwards, in summer, by those who would preserve contented
minds.”
Charles Dickens, while traveling in America (1842)
I'm a big fan of beverages that include mint. Lemonade, mojitos, tisanes, and the ever-refreshing mint julep. Mint says summer. It also says token dessert garnish but that's for another day.
Mint julep purists, aka my friend Collin, will say that adding seltzer to good bourbon is going against his Southern delicacies but hey, I like effervescence in my summer drinks.
This must mean your internets are back!
